What are your greatest hopes and dreams for the next couple of years for your church?

We hope to finish preparation for our new community center to reach more people; nurture a dynamic youth ministry so everyone can live into their God-given destiny.

Why did you choose to do a residency & what are you hopeful will happen through this process?

We are passionate about investing in the next generation of emerging leaders; our hope is to develop a strong leadership pipeline for the future.

What is it like to work on staff there?

We care about each other and have fun together. We are serious about excellence in ministry but do not take ourselves too seriously. We are constantly working to improve processes to enhance collaboration and teamwork.

Please describe the current staff structure.

We have a senior leadership team that provides support for the various staff and ministries of the church.

What qualities does it take to “win” on staff at your church?

Winning qualities include being an inviter and an equipper. T o win involves engaging with the whole staff and leading as an enterprise. To win it is vital to be a self-starter and take initiative in consultation with leadership.

Who will the resident report to?  Will there be a different person acting as coach?

The resident will report to the NextGen pastor.

We use the following assessments: strengths, ideal team player (Lencioni), and five-fold ministry.

What are the key doctrinal and theological issues where alignment is essential?

Key areas of alignment include: the authority of Scripture, saved by grace (Ephesians 2), transformation through the Holy Spirit, and priesthood of all believers (Eph 4). Our church is evangelically rooted in Scripture with a heart of compassion for justice in the world.

In general, what is your church demographic?

The largest percentage of our membership is between 50 and 70. The average is mid-30s to high 40s with a growing NextGen ministry.

Is there more than one site or venue? If so, please describe.

We have our main worship center as well as our south campus, which hosts our offices and ministry for Jr high, Sr high, and young adults.

How many conversions has your church had in the past 12 months? (however you define this and whatever you count)

This year we had 26 children baptized and three adults. We are seeing many individuals take deepening steps of faith to surrender their lives to Jesus and experience radical life change through the Spirit. For example, 5 of our Confirmation students put their faith in Jesus for the first time.

What percentage of people are involved in a small group?

Around 1/3

What is your church known for in the community?

We are known in the community for our financial support and partnership with local public/service organizations, especially with the schools.

How much are you planning on financially compensating your resident?  Is it set or is it flexible?

Up to $2,500 monthly

What are the expected work hours and what does a typical work week look like for this resident? 

25-30 hours a week; these hours include Sunday programming as well as weekday preparation and staff meetings.

Leadership growth and development is a high value; there is ample opportunity for personal and spiritual growth through conferences or discipleship programs in the church.
