Capital City Christian Church

Capital City Christian Church in Frankfort, KY searching for a Worship Resident to join their team.

Expected Work Hours: 25-40 Hours Per Week
Expected Monthly Pay: $900-$1,200

The following is a Q&A with Ben Webb, Lead Minister:

What are your greatest hopes and dreams for the next couple of years for your church?

We want our church (individuals) to be active in their faith and active in the community. We want every person to reach a person. We want to be a beacon of truth and to surprise people with the grace of God.

Why did you choose to do a residency & what are you hopeful will happen through this process?

Residencies will provide answers for us in future hiring as well as allow us to play a part in the development of the ministerial workforce.

What is it like to work on staff there?

We are a loud, fun group. We take our roles seriously and hold to a high standard while also supporting one another and finding ways to laugh along the way.

Does your church’s website state the mission, vision, values and key distinctives of your church? Please paste the link:

Please describe the current staff structure.

Lead Minister leads, while working in partnership with the XP for HR and business oversight. The rest of the staff largely functions as deacons – leaders, organizers, and doers of the practical ministries of the church.

What qualities does it take to “win” on staff at your church?

Leadership – getting a volunteer or team to accomplish a task is superior to doing it ourselves.

Humility – no one is above the mission. If Jesus was humble, we have no excuse.

Desire to Learn – we are constantly looking for something to learn.

Sense of Humor – we laugh at and with one another.

Who will the resident report to?  Will there be a different person acting as coach?
What do you know about their personalities (enneagram, DiSC, Strength Finders, etc.) Have you given thought as to what type of personality will work best with them?

The resident will report to the worship minister, Steve Smith. Additionally, Steve will coach. He has periodically been referred to as an ENFP and sometimes as an ENTP. He operates right on that edge in many interactions because he deals with both creative artists and technicians daily. Steve is also a Type 3, as described by the Enneagram test. He works well with types 9, 1 & 6. The best personality for this role is someone highly enthusiastic about the vision and collaborating with the team to achieve it. Still, the resident can work alone as a problem solver, especially once given a directive. Steve has no problem coaching a novice. The novice must be willing to make and fix mistakes within the scope of the vision. Interns and residents have shaped how CapCity operates over the years because Steve was willing to trust them with improving processes.

Are there particular assessment tools that you prefer when exploring potential staff people?

What is your average weekend attendance?

1,000

In general, what is your church demographic?

How many conversions has your church had in the past 12 months? (however you define this and whatever you count)

Around 100 baptisms.

What percentage of people are involved in a small group?

30-40%

What is your church known for in the community?

We are the first to get involved or volunteer in the community, and our building is open and available to anyone. We also have a reputation of being a place of truth and grace – we don’t skimp on truth, but we so with extravagant grace.

How much are you planning on financially compensating your resident?  Is it set or is it flexible?

$900-$1200 a month. It can be flexible.

What are the expected work hours and what does a typical workweek look like for this resident?

25-40 hours.
